Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a persistent one.

I love the paranormal, because there, every genre I write can become one beacon for my imagination.
Preternatural films have launched some of the world’s most memorable music. From Darth Vader’s Theme (the Imperial March) to Men in Black, the scores of films starring ghosts, vampires, werewolves, aliens and other legendary creatures has shaped modern culture. Since The Artist walked away with the Oscar for best score this year, here’s a little medley of some of the world’s best film music. Not surprisingly a nice chunk of them are from science fiction, fantasy or horror films. See if you can identify which sections have preternatural roots.
The medley not only quotes some of cinema’s most magnificent scores, it also spotlights some of the most amazing pop songs ever to grace the silver screen. Performed by Hipster Orchestra, the in-house string ensemble of the music company Jingle Punks, we thought it was a great kick off for Friday and the weekend.
If you haven’t heard of the Hipster Orchestra…where have you been? This talented group of musicians is becoming a cultural phenomena just like the music they play. You can hear them live at SXSW, the Greek Theater in los angles and other special events around the country.
“This is the time of year when film is on everyone’s mind,” Jared Gutstadt, CEO of Jingle Punks explains. “The Hipster Orchestra wanted to get in on the action, so we put together a medley of our favorite songs from the world of film.”
What? Oh, you wanted to know which film scores were included in the medley? They are (in order):
Now you tell us: how many did you correctly identify?
